Arthur has been involved in numerous self development programs and organizations over the past 35 years. He has been a certified counselor, meditation teacher , business owner and youth sports coach..
His most notable accomplishment was the leading of a volunteer organization (part of the Sterling Institute of Relationships) that started with 28 loosely associated members and through leadership skills, organizational tools and training programs was responsible, (along with the help of many others), for rapid growth of membership within an 18 month period to a total of 120+ active members, resulting in hundreds of men and women attending the Men’s and Women’s Weekend held by the Institute.
This organization continued for over five years to sponsor new participants and gain national notoriety within the International Organization, due in large part to the fact that all this was being done from the small community of Fairfield, Iowa (population 12,000).
More recently, he has developed a“playshop”called Winner’s Mind/Champion’s Heart which he delivers to student athletes and their coaches, once or twice a year. This program utilizes some extra-ordinary life altering tools, processes and techniques learned from various courses and trainings that he has attended and used for his own personal growth. These courses include but are not limited to Peak Potential Trainings, the Sterling Institute of Relationships, the Transcendental Meditation Teacher Training Program and Tolly Burkan’s Fire Walk Instructor training program.
He joined the staff at Mind and Body works as the new Administrative Director in 2009 and heads up the grant writing and scholarship fund programs, as well as co directing the clinic on day to day operations, program schedule and content . I remember sitting in a hot tub at a friend’s party back when I was 22 years old, and for some reason, a couple sharing the soak with me began to ask me questions regarding the turmoil they were experiencing in their relationship, and did I have any suggestions around bringing them some peace in their day to day interactions. And…….so it began.
Over the ensuing years, I have found myself involved in a non-official counseling position with a wide variety of individuals and couples. I’ve sat within a circle of 6 to 10 men associated with the Mankind Project, weekly, since January of “04” discussing and supporting each other around all of life’s issues, raising my own children and interacting with their peers.
With no formal education or training in this vocation, though I have begun taking classes pertaining to addiction counseling, if you would ask my friends and family my qualifications, they would state that I have a real gift for listening. Moreover, I am a man who is in touch with his feelings and emotions, not to mention a sincere love for all human beings.
My compassion and ability to connect from my heart to the heart of others, I judge, as being a gift from Spirit of which I hesitate to hide under a basket. My focus, when ever sitting with an individual, always invokes the “NOW”, the “What’s Next”, the “Letting Go”, the illusion of one’s past and the un-knowable mystery of tomorrow, and of the recognition that the “ego” would rather die than to become sub-servant to our higher selves.
I am currently single, have 4 beautiful children, 2 wonderful son-in-laws and 3 precious grandchildren, and a ton of very special friends. I’ve been a Master Plumber for the last 34 years, and am now involved with Steve Sewell, my good friend here at the Mind and Body Works, involved not in work, but in the “art” of heart connection, never losing sight of the fact that we each are of one Source, and that we each have a gift or many gifts to share with one another, creating a space of which we all deserve the realization of happiness, joy, abundance, but most of all, love.
It has been, and will continue to be my honor and privilege to be in service and to share my heart with all who pass the threshold leading, through desire, to the magic of change. – Namaste
